Good coffee isn’t always a given on small Thai islands — and while The Cocoon provides free coffee and a simple breakfast, we know that sometimes you’re craving a proper morning treat that feels a little more like home.
And if you’re a coffee lover like we are, there are days when filter coffee just doesn’t quite hit the spot.
That’s why we’ve put together this list of coffee and breakfast places we personally recommend on Koh Samet — whether you’ve just stepped off the boat, you’re easing into a slow island morning, or you’re in the mood for a great cappuccino, fresh pastry, or a proper Western-style breakfast. All of these spots are marked on our interactive Koh Samet map, so you can easily plan your mornings (or just follow your nose).
These are places we regularly send our guests to — no hype, just solid coffee and good food.
☕ Our Recommended Coffee & Breakfast Spots on Koh Samet
1. La Moon Cafe (Lamoon Cafe)
Best for:
First coffee after the boat, air-con comfort, desserts and light breakfasts
Why we like it:
Just 50 metres from Na Dan Pier, La Moon is an easy first stop after arriving on the island. It’s clean, bright, and calm, with minimalist white-and-wood decor and both indoor air-conditioned seating and outdoor tables. The lattes are consistently good, the cakes are tempting, and it’s easy on the budget.
Good to know:
Full menu of drinks, cakes, and light meals. Opens daily 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM, so it’s ideal for morning and early afternoon stops.
Try the tuna melt on sour-dough bread. It’s delicious.
📍 Marked on our interactive Koh Samet map — right by the pier.
2. Ziggy Cafe
Best for:
Proper Western breakfast and good coffee
Why we like it:
Ziggy is a favourite with our hostel guests for one simple reason: it delivers a solid breakfast. Think Full English Breakfast, salmon and avocado on toast, and yoghurt-based options, all paired with good coffee. If you’re missing a familiar breakfast or need fuel for a beach day, this is a reliable choice.
Good to know:
Popular in the mornings — arrive a little earlier if you want a quieter table.
Our top choices are the Full English Breakfast or the avocado & salmon on toast.
📍 You’ll find Ziggy Cafe pinned on our Koh Samet map. Just a few doors down as you turn right out of the hostel.
3. Jump at Sea
Best for:
The best coffee on the island (according to many), relaxed garden vibes, quality pastries
Why we like it:
Located on the path towards Sai Kaew Beach, Jump at Sea feels like a little hidden retreat. Brown wood tones, surrounding greenery, and a calm, garden-like atmosphere set the mood. The coffee is excellent — often described as the best on Koh Samet — complete with latte art, great cakes, smoothies, and fresh breakfast options. The background music leans into smooth 1940s–50s Sinatra-era classics, which suits the place perfectly.
Good to know:
Indoor air-con and outdoor seating available. Shoes are removed when entering. Prices are higher than average, but the quality more than justifies it. Don’t miss the croissants or the peppermint chocolate.
For food, they do an excellent ham and cheese toasted sandwich.
📍 Pinned on the interactive map on the way to Sai Kaew Beach.
4. Brown Cabin Chocolate Cafe (Baan Ploy Sea Resort)
Best for:
Chocolate lovers, quiet afternoons, beautiful surroundings
Why we like it:
Tucked away inside Baan Ploy Sea Resort on Noi Na Beach, this hidden café is a little gem. Set among lush tropical woods and a rose garden, Brown Cabin is a chocolate lover’s dream, offering a wide range of chocolate drinks alongside barista coffee, herbal cold brew teas, and freshly baked desserts. It’s easily one of the most photogenic spots on the island — without feeling forced.
Good to know:
A bit more out of the way, but worth the journey if you want somewhere peaceful and special.
All the cakes and desserts here are fantastic.
📍 Included on our Koh Samet map for easy planning.
